With the global corona pandemic outbreak, the management and development partners of Swiss Robot AG recognized that the existing level of development of the prototype FR-1 would immediately make it possible to use the drive on horizontal, smooth floors as a basis for designing a disinfection robot for clinics, schools, commercial or shared rooms, corridors, etc.
The decisive advantage over competing products is the suction power of the drive feet, whose adhesive forces were originally intended for vertical glass surfaces on skyscrapers, but can now also be used as an ideal base for superstructures on the horizontal plane without the danger of falling over due to the high centre of gravity. The fight against viruses and bacteria will be very important for global social development, not only in the current pandemic phase, but also in upcoming situations.

The market for technological innovations that help fighting viruses and bacteria will grow steadily and will be significantly shaped by robotics. Today, viruses and bacteria are primarily eliminated through the use of disinfectants, combined with a high level of manual effort, especially in the medical field. In some cases, bacteria are combated by UV-C radiation, which is dangerous for the human eye and is therefore already realized in the clinic area by using small, self-driving robots. But their effectiveness is limited by their low working height, because the entire room can only be captured without blind spots if the UV-C light is emitted from a bigger room height.
However, they cannot reach this level, because without the suction mechanism they would have no hold and fall over.
With the FTS Medical Robot, Swiss Robot will effectively combine both methods of control.
Building on the drive of the prototype for facade cleaning FR-1, the FTS Medical Robot will have a 1.60 m high telescopic structure with UV-C lamps and four fold-out disinfection nozzles in the middle, which can be extended to a height of 3.20 meters when used and so distribute the UV-C light and the disinfectant optimally in the room.
A room of approx. 25 square meters is disinfected in a maximum of 20 minutes.

FR-1 is the first worldwide 100% mobile facade-cleaning robot, which increases cleaning speed by 12,5 times and reduces costs by 87% at the same time. Instead of old-fashioned cleaning equipment the FR-1 is used in the existing facades lifts. Remote controlled FR-1 ensures steady quality & speed to make glass facade cleaning not only more efficient, but safer.

FR-2 is a fully autonomous working facade-cleaning robot, able to clean glass facades safe, efficient and without any human interference. The FR-2 is developed for, but not limited to, window cleaning. Looking ahead, based on changeable auxiliary equipment, the FR-2 will also be able to do different kinds of maintenance services & removable facade advertisement printing.

PR-1 is the first worldwide 100% mobile photovoltaic panel cleaner which is not limited to any degree of inclination, which makes solar panels more attractive for integrating into facades as an environmental friendly design element. In addition it is the lightest existing cleaning system, which makes cleaning of the latest generation of ultra thin & sensitive solar panes possible.

PR-2 is a specialized immobile large-scale solar panel cleaning robot, which works semi or fully autonomously. Individually adaptable, it is able to clean up to 1500 qm per hour which makes it the cleaning system to chose for large-scale solar parks and upcoming desert giga-factories like Tesla’s one in Nevada, USA.

The big problem solver
SR-1 is a fully autonomous robot, specialized in the cleaning of ship hulls, which are permanently exposed to shells or algas, sticking themselves to the ship hull, so called “fouling”. This causes a loss of flow conditions, which results into a heavy increase of fuel consumption by up to 3,5% per year. SR-1 will be the first environmental friendly & safe cleaning robot, which will make cleaning ship hull outside a dry dock possible. SR-1 will decrease fuel costs for ship owners & tons of CO2 for our environment every year, plus it makes long dry dock stops redundant.

CR-1 is a fully autonomous robot, specialized in the cleaning of chemical tanks. Chemical tank interior cleaning is one of the most toxic and dangerous jobs on earth and is whished by industry and workers to be replaced by robots. By making this kind of cleaning more efficient and safe, tanks can be refilled more quickly, which increase their efficiency and consequently profitability.
